UGA Greeks & Young Professionals Build Like Pros

We had some catching up to do after last week's rain-out, and catch up we did! Thanks to the UGA Greeks, UGA Habitat for Humanity, and a young professionals group from the Catholic Center, we are back on track for our two homes. You couldn't ask for a more enthusiastic group of volunteers.

Athens Heart is in Homebuilding!

The annual "Home is Where the Heart Is" art auction was a lot of fun this past Friday. Local artists donated over 30 pieces, all of which were auctioned off to raise money for next year's Women Build home. We had a great turnout at the Lyndon House, with live music, good food, and lively company. Thanks everyone! See you next year. "Home Is Where The Heart Is" Art Auction

The "Home Is Where The Heart Is" Art Auction on Fri, Feb 20th (6-8pm) is the first fundraising event for the new Women Build campaign. Presented in partnership with the Lyndon House Arts Center, this unique and exciting event showcases handcrafted art from local artists that will be silently auctioned to benefit the Women Build Campaign. These small houses will begin bidding at
only $20.

Another Saturday down; another great day of friends, food, and hammers! Out in Oglethorpe County, an energetic group from Housing 4 Housing showed up alongside the Habitat staff and homeowners (past and future) to deck the roof. Under the guidance of Beau and Jeff, they all pulled together and made it happen! Chicken Express of Lexington made sure we were well fed too. All the pictures from this site can be found here.

Classic Race Services Surprises Us with a Donation!

G. Will Chamberlin of Classic Race Services showed up at our office today with a donation to help build homes in the Athens area! They donated one dollar for every runner who ran in their races in '08. We have loved working with Classic Race Services for our own events, so this gift was icing on the cake! We Mourn the Passing of Millard Fuller

Upon coming in to work this morning we were greeted with the sad news that Habitat for Humanity's founder had died. An amazing man of faith who dedicated his life to the service of God's people in need, Fuller will be dearly missed.

Atlanta Braves Help Out Habitat

What an amazing Saturday! Not only did we have enthusiastic volunteers from UGA Habitat, Delta Sigma Pi, The Presbyterian Student Center, and the UGA Greeks, but players from the Atlanta Braves made an appearance! Everybody did great work and the homes are coming along nicely. Thank you for your hard work, and thank you to our lunch sponsor, Subway!
