Women Build Groundbreaking an inspiring success!

Athens Area Habitat for Humanity broke ground on Wednesday, November 14th for the current Women Build project, "Building Green and Building Dreams." Heidi Davidson, the Mayor of Athens-Clarke County, initiated the groundbreaking ceremony with the help of representatives of the partnership and esteemed members of the community. Special guests also participating in the groundbreaking were Lillian Kincey and the Gaines Elementary Women of Wonder.

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women to have fun and make a difference by building homes and communities. This is the third Women Build campaign presented by Athens Area Habitat. The home is made possible through the combined efforts of Athens-Clarke County Human Economic Development and The Athens Land Trust.

Significantly, Athens Area Habitat also took this opportunity to announce the upcoming 20th anniversary. In celebration, the organization has set a goal of completing ten new homes next year.
